When September starts

Somewhere near the Keutschacher Lake

Somewhere near the Keutschacher Lake

First of September today, summer passed by quite quickly. After some stuff I had to do in the city, I decided to go cycling. And that showed me then that summer is far from being over, it was quite a hot day actually, to hot to go anywhere far cycling. So, i just did a “short” trip, but fun nevertheless.

I went to visit a friend later in the evening, but overall, it was more a relaxing day. Might get another enlarger too, so the big one can get some rest too. And good that I didnt take to many photos on the trip, internet is slow as jelly right now. Hope it gets faster tomorrow. Hardly could get this site here up. Photo will be added once upload works again :(

P.S.: Upload finally works again. Wohoooo

Higher and higher

On the mountain

On the mountain

Weather in the city area was like fall, fog high above the city and no blue sky in sight. But then, we also know what do to so. As soon as you get up a mountain, you have a nice clear blue sky, with the clouds way bellow you.

And thats what we did today. We excaped the grey skies of Klagenfurt and went to the Nockberge, more specific, to the Rinsennock near the Turracher Höhe.

PLenty of photos were taken on the trip up and down, some for normal photos, some for panos.  The panos you can find, as usuall, on my website. The links to the individual panos are here bellow:

There are of course plenty of “normal” photos, and the will be at flickr tomorrow. Finished editing, and will let them develope tonight, but upload will take a bit. Soon :)

Highland Games

This weekend, the Alps Highland Games are happening in Wölfnitz, but northwest of Klagenfurt.  It started yesterday with the business games (not that interessting), and tomorrow are the “best of” (seen them today anyway), but today the “main” games were happening.

Taking the pano

Taking the pano

First the whole thing was planned as a small photowalk, but in the end just 2 other people showed up, far less then I expected in the first place. Good think about the games were that we had no problem getting into the area, they asked all other people to leave several times, but anyone with a camera could stand right in the way and noone cared. like it should be :)

Quite a lot of photos taken (not uploaded yet) and one pano (see bellow), so I guess it was quite a good day. Just have to get a smaller pole for me that I can carry more easily.

Lost controll

Taking the pano

Taking the pano

Started with cleaning up today, specially since I couldn’t find my camera remote controll anymore.  Kinda sucks, since I was going to the Ackern festival today, and wanted to take a pano there. But since I would need the pole there, I would have needed the remote. No remote, no pole –> baaaaad.

Films

Films

While cleaning up, I decided to clean up the fridge too, since the film there was just in chaos. After some sorting, I finally got everything back in.  And it looks well sorted too.

In the evening, I finally went to the Ackern festival, meeting a friend there. Since I don’t like giving up, I decided to take a pano anyway, just hands up and taking it. Sadly, It didn’t work out as well as I hoped, but you get an impression of it.

And since I found the remote later today, I sure will go there again to take a real one.

New pano and (this time) fixed upload

Some computer problems took m to Wolfsberg today, stupid kids messing up the notebook all the time. Since the weahter forecast was nothing special (and it was true), I got there, fixed the laptop in a matter of secodnds (USB does not belong in the RJ45 port).

Setting up the tripod

Setting up the tripod

Advantage of this was, that gave me some time on my hands, went to the city first, playing a bit with the Foma 400 and see if my photo dealer there has anyting of interesst. Sadly (and as usual), nothing new. Why can’t someone in Wolfsberg sell his M6 for once.

With halfway decent weather (check pano), I went further on, my plan was to go on the churchtower, but sadly I couldn’t get anyone to get up. Instead I went for plan B, the castle. And as you can see, at least that worked. Enjoy.

Also the upload is “almost” fixed now, still some issues, but i think the worst is over.

And one more time

First sorry for the late post, had connection problems last night.

Taking a Pano

Looks like summer is finally back, the weahter is nice and no rain in sight.  Impossible to stay inside on such a nice day. I asked some friends, and apparently one agreeded to go cycling. We went the samy path as I yesterday, just extended it a bit to the east, making it 65 km in total.

The Drau

The Drau

The part along the Drau tooks us abit longer the usuall, no wonder with 2 photographers :). Even had finally a change for one of the 2 panos I wanted to take. Sadly, the dam for the 2nd pano was closed due some maintance work, I guess there were repairing one of the flood gates there. Well, have to go there again soon then :P

Instead of going right back at the Annabrücke, we followed the cycle path to a small river passing into the Drau, for a short refreshing break. From there then it was straight back to home (including a short apple grapping break).

Where we went

Where we went

Because of 1-2 more photo breaks on the way back, it got allready quite latethen, so not much left to do, besides editing some photos. But I allready know that I won’t do much more cycling tomorrow :P

Gone again

Half way done

Half way done

Forecast was really bad today, storm and everything. I was quite happy about that, gave me time to develope the heap of films I have in my development-drawer. But like all forecasts, this one was wrong (again).

With all the sun and nice sky outside, I just couldn’t stay indoor all day. I made myself ready for the trip when my brother decided to join me, why not. So the flat part back would at least won’t be as boring as normal.

Where we went

It took it all a bit longer then usuall, brother usually doesn’ cycle tat much, but still we went pretty fast. And even when it was a nice summer day, it looked like a short summer storm is building up in the east, so instead of taking some panos (wasn’t as good as I thought anyway because of maintance), we just keeped cycling. But at least it helps me get fit :P

Going around

Weather forecast for the city was not good, even worser for the part of Austria north of the mountains.  But on the other hand, the forecast was nice for the upper part of carinthia, so why stay in the rain when you can go to the sun?

With that in mind, I looked for some places to go where 1. I could go by train (its almost free for me now) and 2. where the forecast was nice. Found some spots, sadly the one I picked wasn’t nearly as interesting as I hoped.

Me in Spittal

Me in Spittal

My destination for today was Spittal then, small town in upper carinthia. Its right on the train track and nice weather, so I went there to add some panos to my map. The weather was indeed fine, sadly most places I went to for panos were either closed, occupied by some festival or not accessible by some other reason.  And also the photo stores had no neat stuff :(

Anyway, I had nice weather, at least one new pano and the travel was nice too. So I guess it wasn’t that bad after all

And heres the pano :)

Water-walking

Taking the pano

Taking the pano

With absolute terrific weather today, we went to the Trögener Klamm, a narrow canyon in the lower part of carinthia, frequent readers might know it already.

Last time, we went into the lower part, today we skipped that and walked on the path to the end of it, and then started straight with the upper part of the Klamm. As said, the weather was just amazing, not a single cloud in the sky and you could have seen for miles. Should been on a mountain instead, but it was quite fine so too. And it was sure colder in the canyon then up the mountain :)

Quite surprising to us, we went with my uncle and his kids today, he phones yesterday if we might want to go, hes going in today. Seams like everyone want to go there on such a nice day.  Photos are halfway done, need to finish some tufused

one tomorrow, but besides the sneak previews in here, I can already show you the pano from there. Not perfect, sadly, but I’m still quite happy with it.

Stay tuned for more tomorrow. Then the photos follow.

Shoot one more

You should have seen the weather today, deep blue sky, hardly any clouds and you could see for miles. Perfect weather to stay on some big mountain. And now guess where I wasn’t. :P

Since my brother got a new laptop some times ago, I prepaired his ( or my) old one for my grandma, to replace the big and ugly desktop computer she uses right now. So for that, we went to Wolfsberg today, setting up the laptop, take the other computer down, setup internet and some software and settings, usuall stuff, you know.

Taking the Pano

Because some internet issues showed up, it took a bit longer then expected, but after that all  (and lunch), I still had soe time to go to the city to take some photos.

Some time ago I noticed that they made the church tower there public, I tried to went up, but you have to shedule a vist up there first, so no tower for me today. Instead, I just went inside, so another pano is on panotopia now.

Weather shoudl get worser now again, but when its nice long enough, stay tuned for another pano comming soon.
