All scanned

It was like usual when you have to go somewhere early. Had a health-related appointment at 8:30, and I had to wait almost 3 hours to get in. At least there was a “public” hotspot somewhere close and I had my Nokia with me. Still, it took ages.

Sorting frames to scan

Sorting frames to scan

After a nice lunch (fine again), I scanned the remaining frames, and I must say I love the Foma 200, great tones, hardly any grain and very fine to scan too. Need to get more of this. And I hope the Foma 400 will be as good.

Foma 200, taken during the visit of my uncle's family

Already started testing that one, I took the Bessa loaded with some Foma 400 too the 4. Web Monday (and first I could attend). Topic was web accessibility, not very interesting to me, but the after-talk was much more fun, plus I meet quite a lot people I havn’t seen for quiter a while.

Only problem of that was, i couldn’t post the scans today. But promise to do so tomorrow. And another problem, gmail gives me a temporary error. And Wordpress seams to have issues, the flash uploader dosn’t work. Have to check the plugins tomorrow. Looks one is trying some funny business.

BBQ

Funny thing, you plan to go to a BBQ and suddenly the weather report says a storm is coming up. Not very surprising, or. My uncle invited us all for a BBQ today, sort of his welcome party, and to spread the news that hes now finally moving back to carinthia from Germany.

Food was very good (and way to much), but we were lucky, not long after we finished, the rain started. Not bad, but still enough that we moved inside and I had to skip my pano plans there. Wanted to check out a place for one, it sounded promising, but now I have to wait for clear sky to do so. Hopefully it won’t take to long.

Also, yesterdays images are now on flickr.

Medival games

As some may know, I went to see the medival games on the ruin leonstein today. I aksed severall people to join me, and some other were epxected too, but quite surprisingly, hardly any fellow photogrpahers showed up. At least that alloed us to have more space to shoot :D

The games were quite cool, specially the show fight and the fire show. Sadly the best parts didn’t last ver long, but hopefully there will be more tomorrow.

Some more photos can be found on flickr.

More fixing

After my epic struggle against the evil duo (and thanks to the more then sub-optimal weather today), I had time to fix the other 2 laptops, my dads old one and my brothers old one.

This time, it was much easier, since I only had to sweap their drives clean, install XP, set drivers up, install basic software and done. Notice the lack of Vista here? Thats the reson it worked so well. Only problem was the not working touchpad (or hardly ever working) on my dads computer, but this is an old problem.

Also, everything is ready now for the medival games in Pörtschach tomorrow. More info can be found here. Bring a friend.

Now on to politics

So, now back to learning, but this time to a more easier to learn class, media and politics. Still a lot to learn, but this now is “understandable” and also I know the prof allready so I somehow also know how he will ask the stuff. Should work better then the last exam yesterday :P

Otherwise, after a major cleanup project, I finally found most of my missing rechargeable batteries. Now I try to charge them. Need plenty of energy for tomorrow :D

One done, one to go

So, had the first on my 2 exams today, and it didn’t went very well, don’t expect to much from it. But at least I know now what I have to learn for the 2nd try in fall.

After that, I went to the city, needes some cheer up and whats better then walking around with a camera. Also had to do some shopping, so that fitted nicely.  Took not that many photos, since I wasn’t highly motivated, also there was not much on in the city.

Later I visited a friend, we finally ordered some more film and chemicals, since you can’t get them in Klagenfurt (or most parts of Austria anymore).

And just when I went to bed, we got some nice hail too :P

Also on a sidenow, I got another proofe that the university is run by drunken lemures. Its great when they make the powerpoint slides avileable online. Its ok when they convert them to pdf. Its NOT ok when the keep the annoying blue/gray patterend background they used.

He’s dead, Jim

We went to the vet quite early today, to get there before most other people show up. On a Saturday its usually crowded there, and today was no exception. Still, we hadn’t had to wait long, the vet took us in as soon as she saw us standing out.

Jack got better in the afternoon, but around 9pm he had another circulatory collapse, one to much for him. He was already to weak for anything else, the only thing the vet could have done was putting him to sleep. Farewell Jack, you will be missed.

Quite ironic, today was the first day with nice weather. I had to get my mind on something else, I decided to walk to the city to retake the city panos now the construction fences are gone. But I was to slow, there are new ones there already. Looks like I have to wait for the after-EM time.

My brother was really done, so we decided to go for a change of scenery and visit my aunt. Somehow helped, as long as he had something to do, he seamed a little bit better. Since there were invited to a party later, we couldn’t stay that long. Towards the evening, things got a bit worser, he (and we all too) really miss Jack.

When it got dark, I went out again, friend hat a vernissage today, and since today was the only (and last) day I could visit it (was in croatia the other dates), I went there for 1 hour, just to look at the photos and talk with her a bit. Now, off to bed. Sure will be a quiet night.

Back from vacation

As you can guess from the last journal, today was the last day of our vacation. After a nice breakfast, we dragged our stuff to the car and left Funtana. Almost right when we started to carry our stuff to the car, it started to rain there too, and this time pretty bad. Instead of the way we got here, along the coast, we went right to the highway today, seeking the fastest way back thruh the rain. Nothing special to see there, just that Croatian highways are pretty much different from what we would define as highways.

Nothing special happend on the trip, and so 3,5 hours later, we finally arrived back in Klagenfurt. Weather didn’t improve on our way over, rain all the time. When we drove over the Loiblpass, it got even worser, where there was just rain in Slovenia, it was pretty foggy in Austria then.

Since the whole driving thing makes you quite hungry, we decided to go for lunch today, and for a change to all the bbq stuff we had in Croatia, we went for something local :)

After lunch, we dragged our stuff from the car indoors, putting all the tech and photo gear away then took quite some time :P.

Back home I had finally a chance to take a look on the newspaper article I heard so much about, it looks indeed as good as everyone said :)

With the rain still out, nothing much to do then stuff you can do indoors. And since I had quite a few films left to developed, I started with that. I had 6 films left, and from that 6, 3 turned out very well, 1 turned out pretty good, 1 was barley ok (but that was for experiments only) and sadly, one of them was totally lost. I can’t remember what I took with that, nor do I miss one of the special frames, so hopefully no big loose.

Also, while the machine was working, I had tome to process the panos I took in Croatia, and I must say they look pretty good so far. Hopefully I can publish them tomorrow.

First day in Funtana

Breakfast for explorers Getting up quite early today, our first stop was  at the next bakery for a tasty bre First traffic thereakfast. After that, we hit the road towards Ferlach, heading towards the Loiblpass. Weather looked quite promising, bit cloudy maybe, but I hoped for the best. Traffic was ok too, just 2 Rain started times we had to wait a bit there.

When we went closer towards Koper, the rain set in, and quite bad. First peek at the wide ozean For a few km, it was quite heavy. After passing thru Slovenia and entering Croatia, it got much better, no clear sky, but no rain and from time to time, the sun kept peeking out.

Short break on the way A few km before we finally reached Funtana, my brother insisted that we make a short break, and luckily, the sun broke thru there too, so it was quite nice. Since he and my dad were quite hungry that time, we stopped right next to the hotel at a small restaurant Lunchtime, ready for our lunch.

My dad knows that one quite well, so we could be sure the food there was really good. And it was indeed.

After lunch, we headed for the hotel, dragging our stuff up to the room and after that, a short walk along the shoreline, sadly we couldn’t go as far as I wanted to go, because they planted some fences there. The water was pretty cold too, so I’m not really wanting to go in there.

Playing with water Devil in the poolBack to the hotel, we decided to give the hotel pool a try, and once we scared all the old people out of the water, it was fun too. And good thing, I finally had a chance to try out the Olympus camera (and it waterproof feature) and I must say, it worked pretty well. Took much more photos there, here are 2.

Dinner time Sadly, after we left the pool and went to dinner, it started to rain pretty soon, not as bad as when we drove to Koper, but enough to get pretty wet in the city. Therefore, we delayed the trip thru Porec, lets try if it gets better tomorrow. Instead, we just went back to the hotel and played some pool.

And that’s it for day 1-

Sick cat

During the last night, my brothers cat, Jack, started to act strange, so we had to go to the vet today early in the morning. We had no idea what was wrong with him, but the vet then told us he suffers under an urinal stone, and that he has to do some minor surgery on him. She took him in, and I went then to university, had some classes today. Around noon, when  my classes were over, we phoned the vet again, and things were looking much better. The surgery went well, hes mostly fine again now, just quite beat up from the narcotics.

Apparently, the dry food was to blame for it, we already got rid of it. He stills acts a bit strange, but its looking much better.

With him resting at home, we went out again to visit a old friend, it was her birthday and we just wanted to say hi, haven’t seen them for years. And you would be surprised what news you get after such a long time. And I almost got kicked over by there dog, Lara, when she greeted me  :)

On other stuff, I did some coding related updates to Virtual Klagenfurt, to get it run a little bit smoother, and added the tracking code for Google analytics again, I keep removing it.

Also, it was time to start packing stuff for the vacation this weekend. Photo gear is almost ready for it :)
