Got Wood?

Cutting some wood with my uncle

Cutting some wood with my uncle

We actually planned this for months now, but it never worked, either someone was busy or outside the country, or it just keeped raining. But today was different, everyone had time, and the weather was fine too.  We all went to my granpa oday to cut down “some” wood for next winter, and sicne we were enough people, after 6 hours everything was done. This should now last until next summer.

I also found a nice spot for a pano, but we went there to late today, have to go there again when the sun is setting, but not down. You can’t have everything.

But what we had was a nice  BBQ in the evening, and that was really good :P

Trips & Panos

In front of the waterfall

In front of the waterfall

August is almost over, and so is the time I can use my train summer ticket. Again, I havn’t used it as often as I wanted. But today I decided to go, and went to Bad Gastein. Unlike last time, I didn’t went up the mountains, but decided to go thru the city to take some panos (and other photos).

Weather was kinda mixed, but at least it just looked a bit like rain, instead of actuall rain. Been lucky this time. Havn’t edited the photos yet, but the panos are ready. Enjoy them.

Calendar Voting

Since last years calendar was such a big hit (5 sold, and all to me :P ), i decided to try it again this year. It can only get better. Because I have quite a lot of panos to choose from, I tried to put them all together to make it possible that everyone could vote for their favourite panos.

So everyone, please take a look at this link, pass it on to everyone you want, and click ALL the panos you would like to see in a calendar.

In other news, not that much action today, weather seamed ok (but far from the summer the forecast announced) today, but once I went cycling it got dark, and because I had no intentions to get wet and get sick again, I made the trip a little shorter then planned. Also it wasn’t the best panorama weather either.

Panos done and Rural Party

Out with Michi

Out with Michi

All panos are done and uploaded to Panotopia, not the the last one very special or so, but they are online now.  Feel free to enjoy them. While the last few panos were rendering, I went to the city, playing with the 20mm and meeting up with Michi, he wanted to borrow the 30mm.

Us all dealers, first shot as free :)

Later that day, I went to the “ackern” festival, some sort of rural festival. Georg Holzer started SiliconAlps.tv today, and the launch party was there. Didn’t know all of the people there, but enough to have fun, and since I wanted to take somephotos there anyway, it was fun. Photos are on flickrs, panos are done, but not interactive “yet”.

More Panos

So, more panos up online, just a few left. And now I have to take some more to keep the pano spree running :) Might should be able to take 1-2 new ones tomorrow. Hopefully.

Otherwise not much new, went to my grandpa to get some apples (around a car trunk full), and also to play around a bit more with my 20mm. And I realy have to say, I enjoy this lens more and more. Well, here are the pano. Since everyone voted at the poll, I decided to cut the daily dosis of panos down.

And more Panos

After a day with really great weather (like yesterday), today was deepest autumn again. Rain straight from the morning, and no blue sky the whole day long. This was double bad for me, since not only I had to cancel my cycle plans, I also had to go to a family birthday dinner, since my excuse, gone cycling, wouldn’t have worked anymore :(

But anyway, all panos are done, and here are 2 more for today.

Also many thanks to the one and only person who voted in the poll =P

Panos, Experiments and Polls

Quite some news up here, but lets start slow. The Northland outdoor store we have here had a water problem some time ago, and that turned into a renovation sale. Since I was still looking for a not to expensive set to go on fixed rope routes (hope dict.cc was right here), but sadly nothing in my size left. Guess I have to look some other shops.

Cycling to the city

Cycling to the city

Back home, I started to feed Autopano with some panos, and it looks like I realy picked the only pano to start with that Autopano dosn’t like. I had 2 others that were very much like this one, and a few others that were close, and none of them made as much troubles as the first one.

And the new Pano2VR is realy great, made everything much easier. Here are 2 for today. You might have noticed the poll on the right, have 7 panos left, tell how many you want each day :)

While Autopano was rendering the panos, I decided to go to the city, testing my 20mm in “good” conditions for once. I’m allready quite happy with it in dark bars, lets see how nice it is during daylight. AndI must say, I’m very pleased with it. Also, since Microsoft made Photosynth public, I wanted to give that a try too. Anyone who has Windows and want to give it a try, look here.

More panos tomorrow :)

New Panos - A Start

After an almost eternal strugle against all odds, I finally finished the pano I started my editing session with. Programms crashing, unstitchable images, brong blending, everything what can happen happend. But finally today, with some experimenting, the first panos are finally done. The first took almost 2 days, the 2nd went down in a breeze. Odd couple.

The other panos might take some more time, but they will be up soon. Stay tuned. In the meantime, I went tot he city a bit, playing a bit more with my new toy, and also went to a friend to fix his malware and virus infected computer. Never seen anything sooo slow :P

No Panos Today

Actually, I wanted to finish at least a few panos from my trip yesterday, but no luck. At first, i tried to do all at once, was a bit to muh and it send Autopano to the deepest pits of the computer hell.

Next thing, I got a bit distrcted from the postman who got me my 20mm, but after some testing, I went back to the panos. I adjusted a few for rendering, clicked render and went off to the city to test the new lens.

In the city, I stumbled across Georg, kwentin, Christian and others, so the city trip was shortend a bit and we went to the Irish pub for some drink and talk. At least I could play a bit more with the lens there.

After midnight we went home again, I checked the computer and it turns out the pano didn’t render as smooth as possible, have to give it a little more attention.

The problem then was, from the first crash Autopano seam to have suffered a bit, it was a bit slower then usuall, and just when I was about to finish the panorama again (after some big troubles), it just locked up while repositioning the frames. Very bad, since you can’t save then. So you have to wait a bit to see more of Salzburg. Hopefully tomorrow.

City Trip

Food break

Food break

I was planning to visit Salzburg to take a lot of panos for some days now, and with Joao visitng Salzburg on his family trip across Europe, I decided to go today, meet up with him and check out Salzburg.

As usual, he didn’t made it easy for me to find him, not telling me where he was when I could look it up, then telling me where he was and instantly going somewhere else. Took me 1,5 hours to finally find him.

Joao chimpin :P

After dropping some stuff (films) at the hotel, we went to the city, me taking the Bessa, he had his D70. But the moment I changed over to the pano stuff, he grabed my Bessa and tried to keep it :)

With noone knowing anything in Salzburg, we mostly stumbled across the city, looking for places to take photos of, meeting his family several times and going on a few dring searching breakes. There are awefully few stores in Salzburg, btw.

This lasted almost the whole rest of the day, and after visiting castles, old buildings and other stuff, and also a short break in the park, it was time for me to get the train back home.
