October 25th, 2008 — Unsortable Stuff
Saturday, 8:30am. A good place to be would be the bed. but because of the weekend block, I was just out cycling towards uiversity. The only good thing is that this class is really interessting, otherwise I would had a much harder time cycling there.
We still had some problems to get started, so I started with some layout scribbles to get the stuff together, and that then realy helped. Things are looking pretty good for our project now, unlike yesterday :P. The class didn’t last as long as yesterday, around 3 pm we backed our stuff and went home.
Good for me, since I had some other stuff to do for today, with the sub-optimal weather outside, its the best you can do. Tomorrow should get better, hopefull one more pano then
Oh, and my first shipment of apple cider arrived today
Gonna get more tomorrow.

Still from the Video taken here
First big surprise was the weather today. Class all day long, and it wasn’t even sunny. It was 2 steps away from raining, what makes it a perfect weather to go to university (no rain) and sit in class all day long (cold enough to make you stay inside).
The class itself is actually pretty interessting (most are when the lecturer is somewhere from the real word, no from inside the university), about modern media in journalism. For that, we should try to make a sample online newspaper about a certain topic, allready took the tech part over, should be fun.
Next surprise, in the early afternoon a bunch of people showed up outside. The who’s who of the university was outside, together with film crew and some photographers, the renovation is now officialy over (despit the fact there sure will be lots of people in blue overalls will be walking, hammering, and working tomorrow AGAIN. We were the only class that was there in the afternoon, so the filmcrew came in to, to show the inside of our new rooms.
Sadly, they neither showed the missing video projector (doubt we get one too, no mount yet, and no preinstalled cables) nor the handfull of power sockets in class (there were more then twice as much before renovation. Lets just hope it dosn’t get worser.

Transporting Apples
Today was realy all about apples. It started when we went to my grandpa, to harvest some apple for cider. This season the apple harvest was very good all in Carinthia (some parts too good, they don’t know where to put the apples), we got 27 bags of apples, should be plenty of cider for the winter (and beyond).
Tomorrow we should go to my grandpa, they expect around 4-5 times that much apples, but university keeps me locked up :(.
And when this wouldn’t be enough apples for one day, the first “Apple Store” (he called itself a Premium Retailer) opend up in Klagenfurt. I was just getting past there on my way home, plus some frieds said they will shop up there, so I decided to give it a try. And when you know me, you should know what you can expect now. Yep, PANO. Enjoy.

And on an interessting sidenote. When you have Flash 10 running, you’r panos should be as smooth as never before

Other could enhoy the nice weather.
How comes that on days where I have classes almost all day, its nice and warm and sunny outside and I always grab the seat near a window where I see someone relaxing outside. WHY?
The only thing that did comfort me was that I had the camera with me there too, so at least I could pass the time a bit.
On my way home
I went just of university when the sun was starting to set, still very warm and nice. I went towards the city, I still had a Velvia 50 to develope (can’t do E6 yet!), also Gervin was there too, looking for a new compact camera since his ancient Minolta XG wasn’t going to last much longer.
As a wideangle fan, he was after the Panasonic FX-37, but then we found the Pentax W60 (28mm, sharp (!), waterproof). It might has slightly less wideangle, but since he goes swimming very often, the waterproofness of the Pentax were a bigger advantage then the 3mm more wideangle the Panasonic has. And when I would had the Olympus 790, I would lust after the Pentax too

Sorry for this late post (its not like you missed something), I couldn’t get a good connection to the server yesterday, timeouts as far as the eye can see
Just another day with non real special clases at university. Only the internet marketing one should become interessting soon, the rest was quite boring. We will have to present a internet marketing plan for a “hip youth drink”. Wonder if “give all money to google ads” will work as a plan
Besides university, I got my “finder” for the 20mm on the Bessa. Its a VERY basic finder, pretty much like the old wire ones ancient medium format cameras had. We will see how well it work soon.

New renovated part of University
As some of my frequent readers (hahaha!) may know, the flash upload wasn’t working for quite a while now. Today I tried a Flash update, maybe the new Flash 10 has some bugfixes that help me on that one too. Long story short, the answer is no. Flash 10 has a new security feature that renders all current Flash based upload systems useless. Flickr, Zoomr, Wordpress, all you can think off. And as you can guess, it didn’t fix my problem either.

Taking photos at university
And something else, also Flash 10 related. Thomas, creator of Pano2VR released a new version, with Flash 10 support. Now I’m in trouble, should I stay with Flash 9 and enjoy file uploades or should I migrate to Flash 10 and enjoy perfect panos. Decisions, decisions. What do you think?
Spot my bike
Also, with Flash 10 around, its time I add this to my website. I got some times from a regex expert so far, think I should manage to redesign that part without getting to the sharks. Lets see.
And now for something complettly different. I started to take the 30D to university more often, so you might get some more recent photos now.

Wonderfull weekend weather today, actually quite a surprise. Usually its worser on weekends. There were some plans, but they somehow got scrambled up today. Just have to find a nice weekday to do them instead.
Alternative plans for today were a trip to my grandpa, he needed some help with some woodwork, but this now should be the last one before the winter.
Without extended trips and photos to edit, I had finally some time to work on the calendar again and now its done. Right now its on deviantART only, easy for the people in US, expensive for the EU. Anyone knows a good place where I can put it up for Europe? (Just in case anyone wants one :P)

Out of the city
After assembling the bike today, I went to the city with a friend, we went to the city together, to take some photos. And there something happend to me that wouldn’t happen with digital. I accidently picked the wrong film and ended up with one of my old Fuji press films. I actually wanted to save them (I love the 70s look they have, realy like it on street/photojournalism like shots). but I think today wasn’t a bad day to shoot it
BNeed to start developing soon too.
Also, calendar is done, just need to upload it and also some other website-design stuff is done too. Also for my panotopia website, I need an expert with regular expressions. Whos first?

Moon is all you need
All university stuff is now gone for good right now, should give me some time off. I ned to get my mind on something else. Something outdoor would be nice.
Also my bike should be fixed now, we replaced some oil in the rear free wheel of the tire, I hope it works now. Will test it tomorrow. And while we waited for that to dry up, we enjoyed the nice moon outside. Great whne you have a fast enough lens

I actually planed to take a small break from learning today, but somehow the weather told me to keep learning. I was planned a small hiking trip, getting my mind clear again, but instead it rained. Well, we see on Friday if it as a good thing.
Otherwise, nothing new. Just damn learning.
