Cycling around

Weather looked quite nice today again, feels much more like July or so then september. Even when it was a bit cloudy first, it cleared up nicely and even was quite hot later. Thought cycling in summer was hot, good I decided not to go far today :P

Shooting around

Shooting around

Once back, I went in the city, there was still plenty of light and I wanted to test my new Olympus lenses with a slower film too. I took an APX 100 with me, but laer in the city I noticed I should have taken the efke 25 with me. Have to stop down even in dimm cloudy light :P

Will take an efke with me to the flea market tomorrow. Should be fun. Everyone else who is comming to the flea market in Viktring tomorrow, call me :)

Going around, finding stuff

Taking the pano

Taking the pano

With prett good weather again today, I decided to go cycling. I planned to go along the river again, but severl people showed up, everything went just to slow. When I finally had time again, I didn’t wanted a longer tour anymore :P

Instead, since someone made a rquest for it, I went for the Ebentaler Watterfall for a nice pano. I expected a bit more water then there was, but otherwise it dosn’t look that bad. But still I think it worked well. Pano looks good, but is still rendering right now, so wait for tomorrow please.

MY new shiny baby

MY new shiny baby

Since it was quite a short trip, I went to the city, and just wanted to visit the photostore to see if there is something new in the 2nd-hand shelf. Allredy from the distance, I spotted some Olympus lenses, and on a closer look, there were some really nice ones. 35/2.8 shift, 24/2, 35/2, 55/1.2. The 24 and the 35/2.8 were a bit expensive, but the 35/2 and the 55/1.2 were priced VERY cheap, and I couldn’t resist and 5 min later, and with 50€ less, I walked out with 2 neat lenses. Both look very good, sure no hardcore user. Specially the 55/1.2 is interessting, its the erly version with rare earth elements (noticing a yellow cast), good thing this one should be the best version. Allready shot one film, will develope soon.

Aout shooting the film, in the evening we had a meeting with the flickr group, mostly fun, but also start to talk about the upcoming photo workshop. Something realy cool will happen this year :)

When September starts

Somewhere near the Keutschacher Lake

Somewhere near the Keutschacher Lake

First of September today, summer passed by quite quickly. After some stuff I had to do in the city, I decided to go cycling. And that showed me then that summer is far from being over, it was quite a hot day actually, to hot to go anywhere far cycling. So, i just did a “short” trip, but fun nevertheless.

I went to visit a friend later in the evening, but overall, it was more a relaxing day. Might get another enlarger too, so the big one can get some rest too. And good that I didnt take to many photos on the trip, internet is slow as jelly right now. Hope it gets faster tomorrow. Hardly could get this site here up. Photo will be added once upload works again :(

P.S.: Upload finally works again. Wohoooo

Fooling around

Fixing the wire of the phone charger

Fixing the wire of the phone charger

Weather isn’t sure what to do, today was rather mixed, it sometimes looked a bit like bad weather, but overall it was pretty nice today. Far to nice to sit at home all day, so I went cycling with a friend, to the Spintik lakes. The water up there was pretty cold for summer, gues the last days did their best to cool it down.

Since the weather was ok, but not great, I had some time to sit around at home and look at yesterdays photos, edit them and put them on flickr here for you all to enjoy.

Besides that, not much done today, was a slow day. But on the toher hand, I had plenty of stuff to fix anyway :P

And one more time

First sorry for the late post, had connection problems last night.

Taking a Pano

Looks like summer is finally back, the weahter is nice and no rain in sight.  Impossible to stay inside on such a nice day. I asked some friends, and apparently one agreeded to go cycling. We went the samy path as I yesterday, just extended it a bit to the east, making it 65 km in total.

The Drau

The Drau

The part along the Drau tooks us abit longer the usuall, no wonder with 2 photographers :). Even had finally a change for one of the 2 panos I wanted to take. Sadly, the dam for the 2nd pano was closed due some maintance work, I guess there were repairing one of the flood gates there. Well, have to go there again soon then :P

Instead of going right back at the Annabrücke, we followed the cycle path to a small river passing into the Drau, for a short refreshing break. From there then it was straight back to home (including a short apple grapping break).

Where we went

Where we went

Because of 1-2 more photo breaks on the way back, it got allready quite latethen, so not much left to do, besides editing some photos. But I allready know that I won’t do much more cycling tomorrow :P

Gone again

Half way done

Half way done

Forecast was really bad today, storm and everything. I was quite happy about that, gave me time to develope the heap of films I have in my development-drawer. But like all forecasts, this one was wrong (again).

With all the sun and nice sky outside, I just couldn’t stay indoor all day. I made myself ready for the trip when my brother decided to join me, why not. So the flat part back would at least won’t be as boring as normal.

Where we went

It took it all a bit longer then usuall, brother usually doesn’ cycle tat much, but still we went pretty fast. And even when it was a nice summer day, it looked like a short summer storm is building up in the east, so instead of taking some panos (wasn’t as good as I thought anyway because of maintance), we just keeped cycling. But at least it helps me get fit :P

Checking out places

The weather was quite nice today first, so I did the best thing you could do (next to go up a mountain) and went off on my bike.

I did the same river side route as last time, but sadly the weather changes, and the blue sky turned into the grey clouds. Not the best weather for photos, specially panos. But in exchange, I found some nice places I will go the next days.

The weather stayed cloudy the whole rest of the day, so I delayed my pano experiment in the city again. Maybe tomorrow. But nevertheless, I went to the city, they have some sort of “Arabic Nights” there now, mostly an excuse for a flea market of the stores to kick their old stuff out. The Foma 200 is almost full, and I really enjoy the extra stop against other 100 films. Can’t wait to develope that one.

Looking for stuff in the woods

Unlike yesterday, the weather forecast wasn’t as good for today. Also unlike yesterday, it stayed nice the whole day. And also unlike yesterday, I just went for a short trip (you know the baaaad weather).

So instead of the long trip to the river (what I try to do tomorrow), i just went to the Kreuzbergl near me and looked for some plastic boxes in the wood with my GPS. Wise as I am, I uploaded waypoints for 2 caches on my gps, because from the 2 I added, I found just one. Even with 45 min of climbing and scratching my legs open, I found nothing besides the knowledge that short trausers are bad in the forrest :P. At least I don’t had to worry about ticks, got my shoot today.

Luckily, at the 2nd cache I had more lack, 2nd place I looked was the cache. Nice to feel some sucess for once. Nice place too, havn’t thought we have such big rocks there. Have to explore the Kreuzbergl a bit more the next days.

On my way back, I still wasn’t like giving up, so I looked for the first chache again, but still, no luck up there. I have to go there again with some friends, more eyes might help there. When not, it will at least be fun.

And now to something fun less. My dad bought (against my advice and better judgement) a new notebook for him. It came with Vista, and he asked me if I could check it and install some other needed software (AV, office software, music software and so on). I agreeded, again against my better judgement. And what I expected to take 1, maybe 2 hours turned out to take almost 6 hours. It not only came with Vista, but also with Norton AV on it, what is a duo from hell. Not only vista almost refused to let me set up the network so I could install some missing drivers, Norton refused to leave the harddrive.

First I thought it works, deinstallation was running, and suddenly vista decided to help norton and crashed. No I was there, with an undead norton running (more or less). Deinstallation didn’t work anymore. Running was working even less, besides crashing notices every 5 sec. And the removal tool from Norton didn’t even start up :P. I was close to call an exorcist to get rid of this satanic combination that was spinning inside the computer. But I decided that I give it one last change, and this time no more Mr. Nice Guy.

I went straight to the heart (aka the registery), and the scene was quite close to the ending of HAL in 2001. Vista told me to go out and such stuff, but I removed all the evil parts, and now it works fine. Well, as fine as it can run. Never support a computer you havn#t suggested :P

From sun till hail

First, the weather was really great today. Forecast said it will stay nice, maybe some showers in the alps or in western Austria, but nice here all day long. And since you can’t sit at home on such a nice day, I went cycling. As Isaac suggested it, i went towards Maria Rain, looking if the Church was open for a pano, but nada. So, I just keeped cycling, nice track btw. Not very challenging from the terrain, but nice. Here’s a map.

Blue markers are photos, but just with the small one, first ones because I was mid-cycling and wanted to go somewhere, the later ones just with the small one because I was in hurry and under hail-attack.

It started all very nice, sun was out and barley a cloud in the sky. Really nice to cycle, maybe a bit to hot, but nice. It lasted more or less for 1/3 of the track, then I noticed some darker clouds, but nowhere near me. I thought I was save there.

Sadly, things started to change. First thing I noticed were some angry looking clouds from behind. Nothing to worry about I thought, unless I changed direction and was facing them now. Things have looked better for me.

Things got ugly first, when it started to rain, and then it started to get REALLY bad when the hail set in. Luckily, I was already on the way back then, riding along the railroad track, and they have those nice bridges across the railroad every few 100 meters. I went under one, then the wind started, and then I climbed up as high as possible to find shelter from the hail that entered the brige on the left side and with just minimal height loos, it left on the right side. As soon as I got up, a car took shelter under the bridge too, hail looked pretty bad.

At least, the hail didn’t last very long, around 10 min, then it started to clear up again. Normal summer weather. I went on, wanted to go home now, but I wasn’t getting home as fast as I thought, I found some (or plenty) raspberries on the way back, so I took a short break there. Rest of the travel back was boring and uninteresting.More photos can be found on Panoramio here

And some other good news. I found a spare keyboard, same as my old one was, just this one is mostly black with orange, while mine was mostly green with yellow. I won’t screw this upen and change cover (will break it again for sure), but the keys should be exchangeable. So now I have a black keyboard with orange outline and 2 set of keys, green and black. Ideas how to mix them?

Cycling and loosing stuff

Not quite as nice as the forecast said, but still a nice weather we got here today. Perfect for cycling. I went north-west today, a direction I havn’t explored as much as others. Some nice places I have found, just needed better weather then this OK weather today to do them. Thanks to the GPS, I marked the best spots, might try it the next days again.

After cycling (and a small snack), I went to the city, wanted to fill the film in the Zorki, 15 frames were left and I want to start developing again soon. There is another film in the Bessa too, gonna finish that off next saturday at the medival festival. Gonna be fun.

And then bad news in the evening, my keyboard (some remember the nice green/orange one) stoped working, and while trying to clean it to get it working again, it totaly broke. Now I’m back to a 90s IBM keyboard that goes click every time I press a key. I feel like I traveled back in time.
