Higher and higher

On the mountain

On the mountain

Weather in the city area was like fall, fog high above the city and no blue sky in sight. But then, we also know what do to so. As soon as you get up a mountain, you have a nice clear blue sky, with the clouds way bellow you.

And thats what we did today. We excaped the grey skies of Klagenfurt and went to the Nockberge, more specific, to the Rinsennock near the Turracher Höhe.

PLenty of photos were taken on the trip up and down, some for normal photos, some for panos.  The panos you can find, as usuall, on my website. The links to the individual panos are here bellow:

Got Wood?

Cutting some wood with my uncle

Cutting some wood with my uncle

We actually planned this for months now, but it never worked, either someone was busy or outside the country, or it just keeped raining. But today was different, everyone had time, and the weather was fine too.  We all went to my granpa oday to cut down “some” wood for next winter, and sicne we were enough people, after 6 hours everything was done. This should now last until next summer.

I also found a nice spot for a pano, but we went there to late today, have to go there again when the sun is setting, but not down. You can’t have everything.

But what we had was a nice  BBQ in the evening, and that was really good :P

Trips & Panos

August is almost over, and so is the time I can use my train summer ticket. Again, I havn’t used it as often as I wanted. But today I decided to go, and went to Bad Gastein. Unlike last time, I didn’t went up the mountains, but decided to go thru the city to take some panos (and other photos).

Weather was kinda mixed, but at least it just looked a bit like rain, instead of actuall rain. Been lucky this time. Havn’t edited the photos yet, but the panos are ready. Enjoy them.

So, more panos up online, just a few left. And now I have to take some more to keep the pano spree running :) Might should be able to take 1-2 new ones tomorrow. Hopefully.

Otherwise not much new, went to my grandpa to get some apples (around a car trunk full), and also to play around a bit more with my 20mm. And I realy have to say, I enjoy this lens more and more. Well, here are the pano. Since everyone voted at the poll, I decided to cut the daily dosis of panos down.

City Trip

Food break

Food break

I was planning to visit Salzburg to take a lot of panos for some days now, and with Joao visitng Salzburg on his family trip across Europe, I decided to go today, meet up with him and check out Salzburg.

As usual, he didn’t made it easy for me to find him, not telling me where he was when I could look it up, then telling me where he was and instantly going somewhere else. Took me 1,5 hours to finally find him.

Joao chimpin :P

After dropping some stuff (films) at the hotel, we went to the city, me taking the Bessa, he had his D70. But the moment I changed over to the pano stuff, he grabed my Bessa and tried to keep it :)

With noone knowing anything in Salzburg, we mostly stumbled across the city, looking for places to take photos of, meeting his family several times and going on a few dring searching breakes. There are awefully few stores in Salzburg, btw.

This lasted almost the whole rest of the day, and after visiting castles, old buildings and other stuff, and also a short break in the park, it was time for me to get the train back home.

Going around

Weather forecast for the city was not good, even worser for the part of Austria north of the mountains.  But on the other hand, the forecast was nice for the upper part of carinthia, so why stay in the rain when you can go to the sun?

With that in mind, I looked for some places to go where 1. I could go by train (its almost free for me now) and 2. where the forecast was nice. Found some spots, sadly the one I picked wasn’t nearly as interesting as I hoped.

Me in Spittal

Me in Spittal

My destination for today was Spittal then, small town in upper carinthia. Its right on the train track and nice weather, so I went there to add some panos to my map. The weather was indeed fine, sadly most places I went to for panos were either closed, occupied by some festival or not accessible by some other reason.  And also the photo stores had no neat stuff :(

Anyway, I had nice weather, at least one new pano and the travel was nice too. So I guess it wasn’t that bad after all

And heres the pano :)

Shoot one more

You should have seen the weather today, deep blue sky, hardly any clouds and you could see for miles. Perfect weather to stay on some big mountain. And now guess where I wasn’t. :P

Since my brother got a new laptop some times ago, I prepaired his ( or my) old one for my grandma, to replace the big and ugly desktop computer she uses right now. So for that, we went to Wolfsberg today, setting up the laptop, take the other computer down, setup internet and some software and settings, usuall stuff, you know.

Taking the Pano

Because some internet issues showed up, it took a bit longer then expected, but after that all  (and lunch), I still had soe time to go to the city to take some photos.

Some time ago I noticed that they made the church tower there public, I tried to went up, but you have to shedule a vist up there first, so no tower for me today. Instead, I just went inside, so another pano is on panotopia now.

Weather shoudl get worser now again, but when its nice long enough, stay tuned for another pano comming soon.

Back home

So, that was the (first) trip to Vienna, we all took the 11am train back to Klagenfurt. We had some troubles finding space for all 5 of us, but Thomas managed to get us a good spot in the train. After we had out breakfast/lunch in the train, we had to find a way to wast 4 hours of a boring train ride. Luckily for us, Thomas had his Scurbs DVDs with him, so guess now what we did on our journey. :)

Back home, we went right into the rain, t looked pretty bad in the train, but luckily it was about to stop raining then. It looked even nice in the evening.  I allready started working on the potos, but not as much as I wanted to take and also not many to show yet, most photos I took were taken with the Bessa.

Btw Bessa, the film shipping arrived today from my uncle, a friend and I ordered some photo stuff for us, since you can’t get anything decent around here. Here’s a photo of everything (with labels).

I already started to work on the Pano, but somehow I must have changed the image size setting while going down the stairs, so the pano turned out way to small. Also some errors at the bottom, with such bad material to start, I just did it quick and dirty. But I will go there again to do it right. Hopefully soon

Right now, consider this as a preview. Not even sure if I should post it.

Party in Vienna

Today was the last day of the Vienna trip. With the stores closed, we just went in the City for some photos. We first wanted to meet up with Werner on the medieval market, but we skipped that then.  I wanted to take pano from the most photographed subway station in Vienna, but I don’t think it will be as good as most of the others, accidentally had the camera set to a smaller image size. But will see if I can rescue it at home.

After that, we went home, bit relaxing and a bit packing for the trip back tomorrow. We won’t have much time for that later, Werners party was about to start then. Like last year, we went to “The Highlander”, a so called Scottish bar in Vienna. And also like last year, it was way to small for all the people that showed up. But still, it was a nice evening, some laughs, some nice chattering, no singing. And I should have some nice photos to develop too.

Photo for today was taken by Michi and will follow soon.

Think Pink

Day 3 in Vienna. Today was more about shopping and photography, we first meet up with Werner at his photo store, loo kin for some stuff, but since I already have what I want, not much shopping. Same for the other stores we went to. But some stuff at the LeicaShop was quite teasing :)

After shopping, we went back home, recover from the heat and also to get the rest of our photo gear. Between 2 and 3, we went back into the city to see (and take photos) of the rainbow parade (guess what that was :P). Johannes joined us a bit later (and had to go earlier too), but Werner, MIchi and I took some nice photos there. Specially Werner has some nice ones for this entry :)

After the parade, we went home again, another short break. Werner wanted to meet us in a small bar near the MQ today, two other friends of him were allready there. While it was raining outside, we were playing pool almost all night long. So long, they shut the subway and such stuff down, and we had to go home. Bad thing it was raining then. (Turned to a light drizzle while we were walking, luckily). But it gets never boring here.
